Inland transportation and unloading into foundations by skidding and jacking.

Project overview

The service consisted of the transportation and discharge of a fish mill dryer that was 18 meters long, 4.10 meters in diameter, and weighed 90 tons. The transit distance was around 450 km, from Santiago to the plant in Coquimbo, with police and private escort. For the unloading, a system of skidding and jacking was used.

Road Challenges:

Night transit through Coquimbo town with narrow streets and low TV and telephone cables, which needed lifting.

Crossing hills with ups and downs to reach the entrance to the plant, requiring an additional push-pull truck.

Discharge Challenges:

A narrow entrance door to the roofed foundations, which required the precision of our team for discharge.

Successful project delivery

Our team effectively overcame multiple challenges to complete the project successfully. We lifted low-hanging TV and telephone cables ensuring safe passage through the narrow streets of Coquimbo. When faced with the steep hills leading to the client’s plant, we employed and additional push-pull truck to maintain stability and control. And for entering the narrow-roofed foundations active communication and coordination between our team was vital.
